Texas Business Owner
Found this list through Google. Got one of these calls this morning. Being a business owner, and having a land line to do business with, I get more "spam" calls than real calls. I have my number listed with the Federal Do Not Call list. But obviously that does little good. rolleyes.gif

I'm gonna surf around that lawsuit site mentioned earlier. I really don't have time to pursue legal matters, but if it gets the calls to stop I'll make the time.

I have to

Who are they?
How do I STOP them?

OK, I'll start things off in "Telemarketing-Legal" with a new topic.

This topic concerns calls from Quebec 514-958-0000.

I've gotten several calls with "Quebec 514-958-0000" comming up on Caller ID.

Some of the calls have been abandoned (the caller hangs up when I answer), and some of the calls have delivered prerecorded messages.  The prerecorded messages have been on behalf of Summer Bay Resort and DirecTV.

Anyone know who is billed for 514-958-0000?  The areacode/exchange 514-958 appears to be in Canada, and it appears to be unassigned.  But there also appear to be some businesses using this areacode/exchange.

I got a hang-up call with this number on the caller id almost immediately after i blew off a bill collection call (that was intended for someone else) from the Stillman Law Office 7091 Orchard Lake Road West Bloomfield, Michigan 48322 ph 248.851.6000
This place is run by an atty named Michael S Stillman and his atty wife Alicia (or thereabouts). The initial call was rude and abusive, and woke me up. The initial caller obviously knew it would annoy to call back immediately (the hang-up call) When i called Mr. Stillman back to object, HE was rude and abusive. It seems to be part of their act. These people seem to make thousands of collection calls, so numerous encounters with this 514 number attributable to this Stillman organization wouldn't be inconceivable. Keep me posted. And, thanks.

I had and encounter with phone number 514.958.0000. Interesting that it also deals with outstanding debt. . .

I got a hang-up call with this number on the caller id almost immediately after i blew off a bill collection call (that was intended for someone else) from the Stillman Law Office. Established 1994. 7091 Orchard Lake Road, Suite 270 West Bloomfield, MI 48322-3651. Toll Free: 800/508-6000 Phone: 248-851-6000 http://www.stillmanlaw.com , e-mail; info@stillmanlaw.com)

This place is run by an atty named Michael S Stillman and his atty wife Alicia (or thereabouts). The initial caller (Julie, she said) was rude and abusive and woke me up, and my response probably pissed her off. The initial caller knew it would annoy to call back immediately. When i called Mr. Stillman back to object, he “was not in”. An interested prospective customer ruse got me through immediately, though. HE was rude and abusive. It seems to be part of their act. These people seem to make thousands of collection calls, so numerous encounters with this 514 number attributable to this Stillman organization wouldn't be inconceivable. Keep me posted.

Has everyone receiving these stupid beeping calls (yes, just erased a whole bunch of beep messages from my cell phones voice mail, from 514-958-0001) registered their land lines and cel phone number's with the national do not call registry? I understand there are some strict guidelines for telemarketer's to follow and they could be fined something like $11,000. for violations.
Here's their website: https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx
I just input my cel number there as I didn't realize it wasn't just for land lines only.
Take care and good luck.

I've gotten several calls from this number (514) 958-0001 or a variation thereof.
It's usually a fax trying to come in on one of my lines that is not the fax line. My caller ID this time showed this: Plant Test PQ.
That's it. I did a reverse number lookup, and it won't give me the name, but it shows a Quebec Canada number.
Sure is annoying!

After being woken up at 4:30 am and 5:30 am by calls, I tried to discover who and what these calls were about. To the best of my knowledge, this number or its variations 514-958-0001, belongs to VisionLab corporation or one of its subsidiaries. It is a "junk fax" broadcaster. Read about Lawsuits and actions against this company at http://www.junkfax.org/fax/broadcasters/vi...b/VisionLab.htm

I am sick and tired of being woken up by these numbers at odd hours of the night. Can someone please advise what I can do to make it stop?

I'm getting "Plant Test PQ" from 514-958-0001 where I live in Maine. If you answer the call all you hear is a beeping tone. If you call the number it just states the call can't be completed. Usually the calls come within minutes of each (3) and many times the calls have come at 2 or 3 in the morning. Middle of the night calls is taken telemarketing harrassment to a new level.

Can you possibly post a transcript of the voice mail message that you got on your mobile phone?  Or at least post the number that was provided in the message?  I would like to call them and get the name of the company that they are using to send out their prerecorded messages...

Its definitely a weird type of number, it can call you, but you cant use your telephone to call it basck, comes up as a non working number! I just got one, and i tried calling it back!

Generally, it is solicitation, but its annoying, and you dont seem to be able to stop it.

I just received a call from the Quebec number today. I searched, found this site, and called 888-606-2272 to let them know that I would like to stop receiving these calls. The woman who answered, Sylvia, told me that the only thing she could do is either connect me to a voicemail, or to her manager. I advised her that regardless of being put on their do-not call list, if I got one more call I would be writing various letters to the AG of TX, and to my Congressman et al... She then promptly disconnected the call, which I might add, is very poor customer service.

I am of the thought that perhaps a class action lawsuit is in the offing here.

It sounds like the company is in Florida, using a Canada telephone number to get around the "Do Not Call" list. Maybe the FCC and the Federal Trade Commission should be notified as to what they are doing so that the Feds can slap another fine on them

Another number called me using the name "Satellite Systems" and I asked them to stop calling. They told me it would be a $5 to take me off of their list. I asked why this was because I didn't want to be on it in the first place. The man said, "Never call back." Then he hung up and the callback number, naturally, didn't work. I did some research. Does anyone know about the company Satellite Systems AKA Vitara and how I can contact them to give them a piece of my mind and take proper actions to sue them.

Satellite Systems Network LLC and Vitana Financial Group Inc are both corporations registered in CA, and both have been sued multiple times for violations of the TCPA. DirecTV had (has?) a Sales Agent contract with Satellite Systems Network. I've heard rumors that this contract has been terminated, but maybe not...

Got a phone call this AM at 1:53 (mst) from 514.958.0001 supposedly from Quebec.
It was a fax. I don't have a fax connected to my phone. I hung up. 5 Min later they called again. I'm getting pissed. mad.gif This is like the 8th time in 6 months that this has happened. I get great pleasure out of imagining the caller stripped and tied spreadeagle, face down over the blow hole of one of Yellowstone's geysers. biggrin.gif

This criminal organization is using (514) 958-0001 to harassing people by sending fax to residential voice line during the midnight again and again. The Canadian government is not capable to stop them. The only way people can stop their criminal behavior is announcing the companies who hire this criminal organization and let people know their sponsors and stop doing business with their sponsors to force this criminal organization out of business.

The odds are that they are actually trying to send you a fax, unless you have really annoyed someone. Just borrow someone's fax machine, buy an old one, or sign up for an efax service and transfer the fax calls over to your efax number. A new fax machine is less than $40 these days.

Once you can get the faxes, you can decide if they are trying to bug you, fax blast you or it's just that your phone number is close to a real fax number. If you think it's to bug you or a fax blast, you can turn the faxes over to attorneys that make a living suing fax blasters. You can get about $25 if they successfully sue and it costs you nothing to turn the faxes over, or you can sue them yourself and get $500. If you think it's just an error, just call them and let them know. You may find that even if you ask they keep faxing you and then you can sue them if you feel like it.

If it's a commercial fax blast, there has to be some way for you to respond. Just stay calm when you respond and don't get emotional, and you can learn their physical address, "real" phone numbers, etc. If you don't get emotional and tip them off, you can call as many times as you need to in order to get the information you need to sue. It's difficult to stay calm sometimes, but if you don't act angry, they won't be able to tell you apart from the people who are interested in the offer.

I got a call on Sunday evening on Oct.23,2005 from Qubec number 514-958-0000. Well of course I was ticked off its illegal to call on a Sunday and also I just lost my grandfather so that made me more mad. Well first of all I called a 1-866 # and bluntly told them that it was rude and illegal for them to call on a Sunday and that the conversation was taped and not to call me ever again. I told them that I talked to the Attorney General of Indiana. Then I took more steps I emailed the FCC, and I did email the Attorney General. I looked on this site and even called the company everyone is talking about and left a message on their machine, and I also emailed them. I made it clear to them not to call me at all and futhermore I don't need this crap just after losing my grandfather. I have it saved on my answering machine when and what day they called did have the number on my caller i.d. Its been 3 days since they called so hopefully they got the hint or next time I will be home and say not so nice words to them. dry.gif
Amy
Also I forgot to add I'm on the DONOTCALL list in Indiana and Federal and I also made that clear to them also. I hope that everyone who got the same call as I did can stop them, these people are a pain in the arse. Even having caller i.d. and privacy manager is no match for them.

The TCPA makes it illegal to call people for telemarketing purposes before 8:00 AM or after 9:00 PM (local time at the called party's location). There's no mention of calls being illegal on Sunday. Your state may have such a rule about calls on Sunday, but I wouldn't know about that.

You say that you called "a 1-866 #". What number would that be, and where did you get it from?
Frustrated
I've tried to stop these faxes... the phone company can block the call, but you have to pay for it... yeah the victim pays... I've sent threatening emails... nothing seems to work.

If the little guy that is constantly harrased by these fax spammers can't do anything, then maybe it's time to feed these spammers a little poison.

Get the phone numbers (voice and fax) of the FBI, FCC, CIA, police, telephone companies, supreme court judges, government, news media (and in Canada the CRTC, CSIS, RCMP, etc.). Call these spammer's "fax removal line" and enter all these numbers into their removal system.

Since we all know the "fax removal line" is a way to cultivate good, live fax numbers, soon the spammers will be inadvertantly calling people who might be able to nail their arses.

Ethically, I guess it's a little lame to do this, but what else can we do to fight the spammers? If enough people do this, then maybe it will become a "real" problem and we can finally get these fax spammers to stop.

As many people before me, I found this board after doing a search of the phone number on my caller ID. When the phone rang, I didn't recognize the number and didn't answer; just did a search and found my way here.

Last week, I was talking with a client of mine who was telling me how he used to manage a clothing manufacturing plant and how they would occasionally get bomb threats phoned in. Part of their proceedure when this happened was to leave the line open (even if the caller hung up). Leaving the line open helps the phone company / police be able to trace the origination of the call. Since it seems apparent that these calls are not coming from (514) 958-0000 but rather from some other place that has listed that number to show up on our caller ID's, I think it would be necessary for us to find out the TRUE origin of these calls.

Additionally, I have heard of a device you can buy that you attach to your phone to stop auto-dialer calls. What it does is make a certain special tone that tricks the auto-dialer into thinking it has dialed a disconnected number. The auto-dialer then removes this "bad" number from it's list. It takes a while to get off all the lists, but at some point you're supposed to stop getting auto-dialed calls. I'll try to see if I can find what the machine was and report back.

Got one of these calls at 2:00am. Just got another tonight at 8:34pm. Hope this @#$%#@$company does not call tonight. The number was 514-958-0000
How do I gate on the do not call list? How do I make money from these f$@%ers?
Amy
To get on the DONOTCALL list for Federal is easy it depends on what state you live in like for me in Indiana I just typed in my search button Indiana Attorney General and his site had it set up to put the number down for the DONOTCALL list. Let me see what the website is for the Federal site it is www.donotcall.gov/, also the 1-866 number i called was 1-866-485-6111. I hope this helps anyone out who is having problems with this number calling them and driving them nuts too. So far it has been 3 days since they had called me so I'm hoping they got the hint.

Where did you get 866-485-6111? Did you receive an unsolicited prerecorded message that told you to call this number? Did you receive an unsolicited fax advertisement that told you to call this number? Who's number is this, and where did you get it from?
Amy
I got a message on my machine telling me I can get a great offer with my mastercard, something about a reward of $500.00 and to call the 1-866 number I gave. So far they haven't called back again. It is worth a shot to call the number and tell them not to call you at all and tell them that your taping the conversation and that you want them to stop.
Amy
But when it showed on my caller id it was the Quebec number so I called it, then found this site on the net and also called the other company telling them not to call me at all.

If anyone receives an unsolicited prerecorded message left on their answering machine please post it here. If a recording of the message isn't available, then just post as much of the message as can be remembered. If the message said to press 1 (or 9 or whatever), to speak with a live representative, then any information from that live representative would be helpful. Always try to get a call-back number, a www site, an address, anything that would let you get back in touch with the caller.

I rcvd a call tonight from the 514-958-0000 number . I did a google search and found www.5149580000.com ...According to nsi.com it is registered to SydCo Inc which has the very similar 5145960000 phone number. The SydCo company appears to be a victim as all of us are. However, their web site (5145980000.com) indicates they know who the real telemearketing firm might be...perhaps if someone contacts them they may be forthcoming. The legal excuse BS on the web site isn't logically. This is only my first call I have rcvd...If it gets worse I may contact them myself.

I've been in contact with SydCo on a reasonably regular basis, and they don't know who is making the calls that put through 514-958-0000 on caller ID. I am sure that if SydCo knew who it was, then SydCo would tell all of us so that we could sue the crap out of them.

Hi,
I would say good morning, but like the rest of you i am sleep deprived from these calls. At 3:30 this am and 4:30 am was the latest. The numbers they came from were 305-328-5624 and this next one actually had a name of ajaxpkgrng On. 905-999-0000. I am so tired of this. I can't turn off the phone because i have elderly sick parents. I am calling today and just have my number changed. I have already called phone comp and they said thats about all i can do. Just a pain in the butt to do that. I found the board by googling the numbers. I tried calling the others before the newest ones but they never went through. Said they didnt exist. I had calls from newyork,fl,canada I saw one of the numbers that called posted here in another post.the new york number. anyways wanted to let you know they have me too. If anyone comes up with solutions to this you can count me in.
Nice to meet you just sorry under this circumstance.

These phone calls really aren't that mysterious. Most times when you get one that just hangs up after you answer is a computer polling the number. Meaning that it's trying to identify:
A. if the number is good.
B. When you're likely to answer.
C. if it's a fax machine (which mine is so now I get spam in fax form.
Then they use that information to sell to other telemarketing companies for their own profit. Now I don't have one or any connection to the company, but you can get a device on your phone that will make that tone on your phone every time you answer that signals that the number is out of service... you know the 3 tone sequence before you get the pre-recorded message that the number is out of service. So that way, when you answer, the computer polling you is fooled into thinking that the number is out of service and removes you... really as opposed to what the companies tell you.

I'm so tired of these calls from 514-958-0000. I've press "0" for the operator or to get a human and it says you can leave your name and number to be removed from their list (even though you are on the DNC list - and yet, I think it makes me get more calls from this number. For me, it is some guy saying "Hi, Its Dan, you are qualified" to get some random satellite system.

Does anyone know of a legal action being taken that we can sign up for? I'm personally tired of getting woken up either early in the morning or my son woken up at night when they call.

I've tried doing the *57 to trace the call but to no avail.

Any suggestions - short of shutting off my phone?

Yes, I have now received one of the 514-958-0000 calls from QUEBEC...

I called 888-589-7901 which is the customer service number for a company called Express Consolidation. A person came on the line and I asked to be removed from their calling list. She took down my number. I advised her that her company should follow the "do not call list". She claimed that they were a "non profit agency" and that the law did not apply to them. Go figure.

We will see if the calls stop.

We, too, receive calls from 514-958-0000, & we're in California.

Not surprising that the "Do Not Call List" has a loophole for "non-profit" organizations . . . Seems the laws are for the telemarketers and not for the consumers. Very frustrating that one's personal life is continually interrupted by such calls.

Thanks for the info. I, too, called & asked to be removed from their calling list.

Buy a device called Person-to-Person. With it, you can block an individual number or a group of area codes. Eg. Block 1-8##-###-#### And what else is cool about it is you can allow certain area codes to come in, such as 1-830-###-####. You can also assign a pass code number to allow people calling from "Unknown" or "Out of Area" to get thru.
It cost me $110 US including shipping.
Their Tech Support answered the phone in two (Yes, 2!) rings last night.
I just bought this device so I don't know how well it will be at blocking out the "Unknown Caller", the "Out of Area" or the rest of the calls that come with no number. I'll keep you posted.
I will return from vacation the 23rd of Jan. '06. Then I'll know.
Hope this helps,

but the only immediate and complete solution is to change your telephone number.

Nope. That ain't a gonna do it either. These creeps must be using some kind of autodialer that calls every number in a specific prefix or every prefix with a certain suffix (last 4 digits of phone number). I just got an unlisted phone number last week. I specifically requested there be no recording giving a new number when someone dials the number I gave up. I even called the old number to check. The recording just says the number has been disconnected.

TODAY I got a phone call from 514-959-0000. It was a ghost call. The only way I can figure they could have gotten this number legitimately is if someone who had previously had this number requested information or did business with this company or a company it represents. If that's the case, my new number may well be on tons of telemarketing lists. I sure hope not.

I had the good fortune to move into better houses several times over a period of years and each time I had to tell about 20 companies to take me off their list when they called for the previous person who had the number. I haven't had a telemarketing call in 2 years, and I'm not on any do-not-call list!

They may be calling all disconnected numbers over and over, waiting for them to be assigned. It doesn't cost them anything and it's a legal way to reach people before they get on the list.

Hello,

I received a call from 512-958-0000. When I researched the # on google, this is the site that came up.

http://artofhacking.com/files/ODDBALL.TXT

It's telemarketing to the hilt!

I quote: "XXXXXXXXXXX is an invalid CLLI which, in the LERG context, means
"Oddball Codes". Many of these are the usual N11, 555, 976, 958 and so
on used for various well known purposes. But many more are prefixes
that are used for test and special purposes, and some of these prefixes
may be prime scanning country."

They call you to see if your phone # is a "live" line to call and send pre-recorded messages to, or to get a telemarketer who is available. If one is not available, then it just hangs up in your face.

Okay, since we are limited on our rights here, I'm gonna forward this information in an e-mail to everybody I know (their friends and their friends) so they can get their names taken off the NATIONAL DO NOT CALL LIST (www.donotcall.gov)

After you do that, you can send in a complaint.

Hope this help!
